I have recently discovered that the internet is boring.
First it was chatrooms, then ICQ, then MSN, then MySpace, and now Facebook - the internet has changed over time and the most popular sites and uses have as well.
But now things are just becoming 'same old, same old'.
I am bored of the internet. Who thought that 10 years ago you would ever admit to this. It has reached it's peak for me - with the whole social networking scene, I'm tired of it.
Facebook has changed completely. Just because your home page is still blue and white, doesn't mean that the idea itself hasn't changed. Now everyone is on Facebook. I remember when it was a big deal when 13 year olds made fake accounts and they were getting banned. Now, I'll admit I was a bit late to the Facebook party, but still, I remember the 'golden days'.
So to has the death of MSN Messenger, now called Windows Live Messenger, come about as well. I have a small list of friends and almost no one is ever online. People change, friends grow apart, and the 6-7 simutaneous conversations you were having with your 'peeps' back in grade 9 is over with. This technology is outdated. It still works great but the problem is that no one uses it anymore.
Other than for Facebook, I use the internet to check the weather, my bank account, youtube for music and funny videos, and for TSN.ca. I guess you can also add updating my blog to that list as well. Look at me go, leaving things out.
I honestly believe though that the internet has reached it's peak. Of course the 'next big thing' will come along, causing millions of people to follow it like a religion. I believe however I won't be there. I'm not going to take part.
Facebook is something I use to keep in contact with friends, and of course updating your status is something more rewarding to me than Twitter. There's something I'll never understand, Twitter. I understand the appeal, it just does not translate to my life. Following celebrities is appearently fun for some, but that's just not for me. I don't need to know what kind of cream cheese Ashton Kucher had on his begal. I made that up and yet it sounds like something he may have tweeted, does it not?
I'll be keeping my Facebook but I would really like to delete it. Perhaps when I go back to school. Seeing as I will have basically no time to do anything else but study, I would enjoy the break.
One thing I would like to keep working on however is this blog.
Thanks for reading as always.
